I worked as the Producer of the Horncastle Horse Fair for SessionsArts CIC who are based in Spilsby’s Sessions House in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The Horse Fair was a special community heritage and arts event that took place place in Horncastle in August 2023. The Horncastle Horse Fair was – in its day – an enormous event, the biggest in Europe so they say and this event marked 75 years since the last one was held in 1948.
Working alongside the Horncastle Heritage & History Society, Horncastle Town Council and East Lindsey District Council, with funding from the UKSPF (UKGovt Levelling Up Fund), we brought a range of horse-themed activities, workshops, films, performances and games to the town, culminating in a special day and evening event in the town centre on Saturday 12th August.
